Placing Orders  

How do I place an order?

We have tried to make the placing of orders as easy as possible, but if you have difficulty with any of the steps involved check the HOW TO ORDER - HELP page or email eboutique@spencerandrutherford.com for help:

1. Find an item to purchase using our menu or search facilities.
2. Click on the 'ADD TO CART' button.
3. Continue to add more products as you wish. The number of items in your
cart will be displayed next to the “Cart” button on the bottom left of your web page.
4. When you are ready to place your order, click on the 'VIEW CART' link (bottom left of page).
5. Check and edit the contents of your cart as required then click on the 'CHECKOUT' button.
6. Login to your customer account, or create a new customer account if you don't already have one. (If you create a new account, you may need to click on 'VIEW CART' again and proceed from there once you have set up your new account).
7. Fill in the delivery address details for your order.
8. Fill in payment details. We accept Visa or Mastercard credit cards. We do not accept payment by cheque or direct credit at this time.

Once your order has been accepted, you will receive an order confirmation including your invoice via email. Please check this confirmation carefully and inform us of any mistakes as soon as possible. If you wish to cancel an order, you must inform us before 9.00am (EST - Eastern standard time) the next business day by emailing eboutique@spencerandrutherford.com. You will also receive an email once your order has been dispatched from our warehouse.

Removing items from your cart  

How do I remove an item from my cart?

Follow these steps:
1. Ensure you are in your cart - click on the 'VIEW CART' link (bottom left of page)
2. Locate the item you want to remove
3. Click on the ‘REMOVE’ link at the end of the item's row

The item will be removed from the cart, and the cart value will be automatically recalculated.

Updating order quantities in your cart  

How do I update order quantities?

By default, the quantity of an item added to a cart is 1 - to purchase multiple copies of any item already in your cart:

1. Ensure you are in your cart - click on the VIEW CART link (bottom left of page)
2. Locate the item which you want to modify
3. Enter the number of items you require in the QUANTITY field.
4. Click on 'REMOVE' if you wish to delete an item from your cart.
5. Click on the 'UPDATE' button and the quantities and prices will be recalculated.

The cart will recalculate the quantities and cart value to reflect your changes. Setting the quantity to "0" will remove the item from your cart.

You can change the quantities as required - the cart will automatically adjust to reflect any changes when you check out.

Changing your order  

Oops, I’ve made a mistake – is it too late to make changes to my order?

In order to provide our customers with the quickest possible delivery, all orders are shipped either same day or the next working day. If you have already placed an order and wish to change it, please contact us at eboutique@spencerandrutherford.com within 12 hours of placing your order and if we have not shipped from our warehouse then we are more than happy to modify your order providing the goods you require are in stock.

Cost of Freight  

What are the standard freight charges within Australia?

To ensure that our customers get the most competitive rates around we offer a flat rate of $16.00 for delivery, so no matter how much you order the freight will remain the same – wherever you may be within Australia.

Returns & Exchange policy  

1. What is Spencer & Rutherford’s return & exchange policy?

In the interest of quality we ask that you assess your purchase immediately to determine that it meets your expectations. We regret that we are unable to accept or exchange any returned items which are scratched or dirty and the item will be sent back to the customer at their cost.

IMPORTANT: Please be aware that it is your responsibility to ensure that the goods are returned in exactly the same condition as they were delivered. For this reason please make sure the product is placed in its original packaging. Your return or exchange will ONLY BE ACCEPTED if returned in exactly the same condition as dispatched WITHIN 10 DAYS of delivery. Spencer & Rutherford offers return for exchange on items purchased at the Spencer & Rutherford eBoutique. If you receive an item that you would like exchanged please contact us WITHIN 7 DAYS of receiving your goods for an authorisation number by emailing returns@spencerandrutherford.com. You will need to include the following information:
1. Order number as well as authorisation number for return or exchange
2. Name of item purchased
3. Date item was delivered
4. Reason for exchange
5. Name and price of the item you would like the original to be exchanged for

You will be issued a credit note (coupon code) to enable you to place another order online. This coupon code must be used in one purchase only (apply this on the CHECKOUT page). Please note that the delivery charge will not be credited. It is also your responsibility to return the item to Spencer & Rutherford in its original condition with tags.

Return your package in its original packaging to:
eBoutique Returns, Studio 2, 22 Cecil Place, Prahran, VIC 3181, Australia.

Please note that we do NOT offer refunds for change of mind, but we will happily exchange. Please note that goods are returned at the purchaser’s expense to Spencer & Rutherford. These should be returned in its original packaging, ensuring that all tags remain intact and the item has not been used. Goods purchased online cannot be returned or exchanged at our retail boutique, they must be sent to the above address. Please note that there is NO EXCHANGE on SALE items or discounted Items, however, sale items are covered by a six month warranty. Spencer & Rutherford reserves the right to refuse any returns if they do not meet the standards outlined.

It is a condition of sale that any purchased item may not be offered for resale without prior written approval from Spencer & Rutherford.

2. Can I exchange or return a sale or discounted item?
Sorry there is no exchange or return on sale or discounted items. Please choose carefully. Please note that SALE or discounted bags are still covered under our warranty for 6 months, but are not refunded due to change of mind.

3. What do I do if the item I receive is damaged?
At Spencer & Rutherford, we are committed to selling only first-quality, genuine designer accessories. If for any reason your product is damaged when you receive your goods we are more than happy to assist you with correcting the problem. Please contact us at returns@spencerandrutherford.com. Remember to have your Order confirmation number handy so we can deal with your enquiry as promptly as possible. If your item is incorrect and not what you ordered please contact us at returns@spencerandrutherford.com we will ensure the fastest service to get the incorrect item back from you and to replace you with the correct item you ordered.

General Information  

A Spencer & Rutherford website customer account provides a secure and convenient way to facilitate shopping on our website.

You can browse, view and add items to a shopping cart without an account. Once you decide to purchase items in your shopping cart, you simply need to click on the 'CHECKOUT' link (on bottom left of page). New customers can create a customer account before proceeding.

Of course you can create a new account without placing an order - just click on ‘LOGIN’ (below 
Divine Society) on the left of this web page and follow the ‘CREATE A NEW CUSTOMER ACCOUNT’ link. When the time comes to place an order, you will be set to go.

Creating a new customer account

Logging in and out  

You do not need to be logged in to view product on our website, or place items into your shopping cart. You will need to login before performing any personalised tasks, such as placing new orders or modifying your account. Each customer is uniquely identified by the email address they use for their customer account, so to login you will need to provide your email address and password. Redeeming a Gift Certificate  

How do I redeem a gift certificate?

If you have been given one of our fabulous gift certificates, to redeem it, all you will need to do is select the product you wish to purchase, during the CHECKOUT process you will be asked to enter your coupon number. This will then process your gift certificate and your goods will be shipped to you. Your online gift certificate can only be used online in our eBoutique, however, you may use it multiple times until the balance reaches zero. Your gift certificate is valid for 12 months from the date of purchase.

Sending an eCard  

You have a choice of eight custom designed eCards to send to someone special to brighten up their day! These can be used for any event – a birthday, an anniversary, thank you or just to tell them about your favourite handbags!

To send an eCard all you have to do is click “eCards” on the left hand menu which will take you in to the section where you fill out your details (your name, your email, recipient’s name, recipient’s email and your message).

Before your card is sent you are able to preview your card, if you are not happy with it you are able to go back and make necessary changes, or you can click ‘SEND’ and your card will be delivered to the recipient!

General information  

What is the difference between a Spencer & Rutherford ‘Limited’ handbag and
a Spencer & Rutherford handbag?
At Spencer & Rutherford we have two different handbag collections, the Limited Collection which is a collection of numbered handbags with a limited edition of 300; your bag will display a brass plate stating its production number. These bags are collector’s items and are made of finer fabric such as silk and soft Italian leather. The Spencer & Rutherford collection is not confined with a limited amount, and use different fabrics and polyurethane.

Are the luggage pieces the correct carry-on allowance size?
In our luggage range we have 10 products that are the correct sizings for carry on to both international and domestic airline flights, these include Coco, Business Carry On, Carry On, Small and Medium Traditional, Small and Medium Trolley Cases, Compendiums, Go-Getters and Bootbags. The dimensions of each product is listed in the product detail page.

If I am a Glamour Club Member, can I receive my discount in the eBoutique? Glamour Club Member discounts only apply to our retail boutique, these discounts do not apply to online purchases from our website.

How do I redeem a gift certificate?
If you have been given one of our fabulous online gift cerificates, to redeem it all you will need to do is select the product you wish to purchase, during the CHECKOUT process you will be asked to enter your coupon number, this will then process your gift certificate and your goods will be shipped to you. Your online gift certificate cannot be used in retail store.

If I purchase a gift how is it packaged?
All products (with the exception for the hard luggage pieces) are wrapped in our tissue paper then placed inside a Spencer & Rutherford gift bag and are then boxed to be sent. Your gift will arrive looking beautiful, which takes away the worry of having to wrap it yourself, so sit back and let us do the work for you!

If I purchase multiple items can they be sent to different addresses?
Unfortunately each sale can only have one delivery address; therefore if you are deciding to purchase a gift and just can't help but buy something for yourself too, you will need to place two different orders.

How should I store my Spencer & Rutherford handbag?
‘Limited’ edition bags come with the Spencer & Rutherford protective bag, and your collectable Spencer & Rutherford handbag should always be stored in that when its not in use, as it allows the bag to breathe. If your bag is not limited then it can be stored in a fabric bag, if possible leave stuffing in to keep the correct shape and stand upright if possible.

What fabrics are used in the Spencer & Rutherford handbags?
Spencer & Rutherford uses fabrics from all over the world. Some of the fabrics used are upholstery fabrics and therefore are thicker and more durable. Some of the fabrics we use have been treated with a fabric protector to ensure longevity of your collectable item. For more information on caring for your handbag, please visit our Care Instructions section.

What about leather treatment and care?
Spencer & Rutherford uses leather worked by a craftsman and finished by hand. This is the result of a careful selection, therefore, some defects like creases, shading and colour irregularities should be considered natural features of the leather and they are designed to age over time. All leathers should be kept away from grease products, water and other leather goods, as the colour could “migrate”. The material may have been treated with a particular fixing agent that protects it and minimises discolouration. This item is delicate and it is not designed for heavy duty use. We recommend that you keep it in a protective cloth bag and in order to maintain the characteristics of the product do not use self-shining treatment.

I have heard that Spencer & Rutherford hold VIP Clearance Sales, where do
I find out about these?

Spencer & Rutherford generally hold VIP Clearance Sales approximately 2-3 times per year depending on availability of stock. These are held in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane usually over two or three days. To be notified of these fabulous sales please visit our DSDG section and sign up to subscribe to our monthly newsletter, as part of our DSDG you will also be notified of our much anticipated Clearance Sales throughout the year. You can also check out our discounted items in the SALE section of our website, these change every 2-4 weeks on a Thursday so be sure to come back if you do not find what you are after.

Do Spencer & Rutherford only sell handbags?
Not at all, Spencer & Rutherford only design and produce handbags, luggage and accessories under the brand name. Currently, our online eBoutique only stocks Spencer & Rutherford designer handbags, luggage and accessories.

Our retail boutique in Melbourne stocks beautiful jewellery, gorgeous handbags and giftware from both local and international designers.

Can you tell me about your DSDG?
DSDG is a way of communicating with our followers and dedicated Spencer & Rutherford fashionistas! By joining our DSDG you become one of our VIP Members which will entitle you to receive our monthly newsletters which are full of information of what’s going on with the brand, special offers, promotions and news!

Are your entire range of bags featured on your eBoutique?
No, you will find the majority of our current range online, depending of course on availability. If there is something you like remember to be quick as some styles sell out very quickly. All of our bags are shown in the ‘Collections’ section, if there is something you wish to purchase that is not in our eBoutique we suggest you contact our retail store or one of our stockists.

How can I tell if my Spencer & Rutherford handbag is ‘genuine’?
As our designs are so unique, people have taken advantage of the fact that our bags are so popular and attempted to copy a few of our popular styles. To tell if your bag is real you should be able to tell from first glance, the imitations are made with tacky fabrics and generally look mismatched in colours and appearance. Your Spencer & Rutherford original will be made using only the finest materials, have straight stitching and the inside will be lined with either printed fabric (if you have a Spencer & Rutherford) if you are carrying a ‘Limited’ handbag your bag will be lined with our signature light pink fabric, and will be embossed, with a brass number plate stating the number of your bag on our production line.

Any bags purchased online or in any of our retail stores or stockists are 100% genuine Spencer & Rutherford.

I bought a bag a few years ago that I just love, but I don't see it in stores or on the eBoutique. How can I purchase another one?
