What a whirlwind the past few months have been! Between opening our beautiful new Chadstone boutique, launching the glamorous Autumn/Winter Collection and debuting our sophisticated new luggage, I’ve hardly had time to stop and smell the roses!

While I’m sure some of you may have assumed I simply dropped off the face of the earth, it’s been that long since my last entry, I assure you it’s not the case! Since we last spoke, the world of Spencer & Rutherford has been moving at break-neck speed, so before you get upset, I promise my updates will be more frequent from now on.

Let me quickly fill you in on what’s been going on.

The new boutique at Chadstone opened in November and has quickly become a hub of activity. Chadstone Shopping Centre is always so vibrant and busy and the store there has a great energy about it, which I really enjoy.

Speaking of the Chadstone store, it has become the perfect place to show off our new Luggage Collection, with the back wall of the store purpose-built especially for these pieces. It’s so good to finally see the pieces from this collection in the stores, it’s been a long process getting them to this stage, what with developing the fabric and coating, then working on the styles to make sure they were absolutely perfect! And of course now that they’re ready to sell, I have my partner telling me we need more pieces, (especially a Beauty Case,) to add to the range! But with such a fabulous end result, it has definitely been worth all the stress.

The Autumn/Winter Collection landed in stores a couple of weeks ago and we finally have all of the pieces out on the shelves and online. The collection is so glamorous and sophisticated, it reminds me of times gone by, of the pizzazz and elegance of the 1920s.

It was a fun collection to put together, inspired initially by one piece of fabric that I found – the beautiful silk with embroidered peacock feathers which appears on one of our new styles “Lisbeth”. The peaock feather just reminded me of all that art deco glamour and from there went the collection.

On the home front, I now have a daughter in high school (where did the time go?), going to parties that go past 4 o’clock in the afternoon (whoa-a) and wanting to wear high shoes… don’t know where she got that from! To keep in theme, her most recent party was a fancy dress and to keep in theme you can guess what we put together – yes, a 1920’s flapper girl. We really do live handbags at our place.

Lastly, I think it’s time to introduce another of our wonderful staff members here at Spencer & Rutherford.

Fresca O’Neal is our multi-talented Sales Administration Manager, who does a fabulous job of holding down the fort in our Head Office wholesale department.

In her spare time, Fresca is renovating her 1947 Australian cottage, and loving it! She loves family, close friends, spending time with positive people (like us) and a good glass of wine at the end of the day. She dislikes it when her team doesn’t meet budgets and when the dinner menu is left up to her!

Til next time,

Kim xxx
